Empowering compostable packaging

A composite coating technology that strengthens bioplastic films.

The demand for compostable packaging is surging, driven by stricter regulations on plastics and growing consumer preference for sustainable solutions. However, widespread adoption remains limited due to two key challenges: higher costs and weaker mechanical properties, which prevent bioplastics from fully replacing traditional plastics.

We have developed a composite coating technology that strengthens bioplastic films, enabling packaging to be 30% thinner and more cost-effective, a game-changer for the industry.

Our technology

SURFACE COATING

Compostable film

SurfAce™  coating

15% CHEAPER

Our composite coating strengthens films by over 30%, enabling compostable packaging to be more competitive. It allows manufacturers to work with thinner films, reducing material costs. Lighter products also saves logistics' costs and emissions.

It is to be certified compostable according to the European norm EN 13432, conserving the films sustainable end-of-life.

The composite coating integrates seamlessly into the existing manufacturing process and on all types of biopolymer films.

It is applied using the existing flexographic printing machines, similar to an ink. It is compatible with the existing anilox rollers and does not reduce production speed. This easy application allows for strategic patterns to be used to optimise performance depending on product use.
