Canopa™ is a coating that reinforces compostable film, enabling manufacturers to reduce its thickness while maintaining mechanical performance and compostability. Printed only where reinforcement is needed during the existing production process, it combines strength, compostability and high-speed printability, enabling major material and cost savings.
Lower costs
Less material, lower production costs
Higher strength
Improved mechanical performance
Easy integration
Works with existing production lines
Maintains compostability
Composts alongside the film

Targeted reinforcementNot every part of a bag carries the same load, so Canopa™ doesn't treat it that way. We map where packaging actually fails under real handling and reinforce only where it’s needed. Printed directly onto compostable film, it reinforces exactly where the film is weakest, so less material does the same job.

Easy integration Canopa™ is printed by manufacturers onto their compostable film. It runs through the same flexographic or gravure printing station converters already use, applied just like an ink. No new process step, no retraining. Extrude a thinner film, print Canopa™ within your existing process, and produce reinforced packaging with no extra steps.

Canopa™ allows for thinner films, cutting costs while making your production more sustainable. The data is measured on industrial production line (IbiPlast, July 2026), in tensile testing on coated vs. uncoated film. Canopa™ can also be applied to film at its current thickness, improving mechanical performance for a stronger, more reliable product.
